Showing Your Home Properly

Once you have finished all of your cleaning, repairs, and maintenance, there is one thing you need to remember - Keep it Neat!

A clean, neat home allows buyers to see the house itself when previewing your property. Clutter tends to divert attention away from the most saleable features of your home. Here are some suggestions for making the most out of your showing opportunities:

Before the Showing:

  • Send children and pets elsewhere until showing is over.
  • Close garage door.
  • Turn on all lights inside and outside.
  • If you have a fireplace, get a fire started.
  • Open all window blinds and curtains.
  • Dark rooms do not appeal to most buyers.
  • Remove or secure all valuables.
  • Move all cars out of driveway, but not directly in front of the house.
  • Straighten up every room and make sure all beds are made.
  • Weather permitting, open all windows and let fresh air in.
